Canadian ports. It is located downstream of the Escuman branch on the north bank of the St. Lawrence River estuary, with a maximum draft of 11.9 meters at low water level. The load density of water is 1002-1015. Tide height ranges from 2.1 meters to 6.7 meters. Westerly and northeasterly winds prevail. The traffic contact is on the radio VHF channel 9, called "Escuman River Channel". Ships entering Port Alfred in winter must notify the Canadian Eastern Navigation Zone Management Station via Halifax Radio or other Canadian coast stations 24 hours before entering the Gulf of St. Lawrence: ship name, total load, braking Horsepower, structural data, ice class, approximate draft and time of entry into Cabot Strait, port of destination. Report the expected arrival time and the name and tonnage of the cargo to be loaded and unloaded to the port authority 48 hours before entering Port Alfred. No docking is allowed without instructions from the port authorities. In order to speed up the turnover of port berths, port authorities may order ships to vacate their berths in writing at any time. If the ship cannot leave the berth 3 hours after receiving the order, the port will pay demurrage (USD 500 per hour), which must be paid in cash in advance to the port authority. Smoking or lighting of uncovered lamps is not permitted anywhere within the port area. Boats docking at Duncan's Pier or Powell's Pier are required to provide a gangway with a safety net. Otherwise, dock workers or port officials may refuse to board the ship, and the ship will be responsible for any delays caused. During winter, all gangways, hatch covers and gangways must be kept free of ice. There are boat ramps available for rent at Powell Pier, with rates starting at $95 per hour. The port is equipped with cathodic anti-corrosion equipment underwater. Any metal fragments and objects falling into the water will pose a hazard to this facility. Therefore, garbage on board is not allowed to be cleaned while the ship is in port. Port service facilities include: ship repair, medical treatment, towing, sewage, fresh water supply, supplies, repatriation, no refueling, dry dock, and small boats. There are two terminals in the port: Duncan Bulk Terminal, 385.5 meters long, with a water depth of 11.9 meters at low tide; Powell General Cargo Terminal, 493.4 meters long, with a water depth of 10 to 11.9 meters, with a warehouse of 4,633 square meters. The terminal can accommodate ro-ro ships. There are 3 medical berths.
